Getting Healthy

A new report came out today, I heard it on the radio, that said if you do 4 things you can improve your health. They are:

  1. quit smoking
  2. drink moderate amounts of alcohol
  3. exercise
  4. eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day
So I ask you…. what wonderful healthy recipes would you be willing to share? Full of vegetables, fruit too… and flavor… that are healthy!!

  1. Fresh Beet Salad

    2 Medium sized beets – Grated
    3 Medium Sized Carrots — Grated
    1 clove of Garlic finely diced
    A glug of olive oil
    Squeeze of lemon or lime
    pepper

    Grate the beets, and carrots (I use a cheese grater) in to a bowl, and add the other ingredients. Mix.

    This is good on its own, or on top of a bed of romaine lettuce, with your favorite dressing, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and a some crumbles of feta cheese.

    Yum, yum, yum. That should take care of about 3 servings of veggies! I have a large salad for a dinner, with a small plate of lean meat and a little bit of carbs.

  2. That sounds pretty good but I would have to take out the beets and rest would be great. As for the list I am pretty good because for the first two are taken care of and have to work on the other two.

  3. :c( no beets? they are so good for you though. Cleansing, and good for the blood. Lots of iron.
